The Telecommunications Engineer is a part of the System Team and will design and analyse the telecom network for the railway on which all subsystems rely.

Missions & Main activities
We are currently expanding in the UK and Ireland, growing our business and our team. One of the exciting projects the Telecommunication Engineer will work on relates to the execution of the Birmingham tramway network extension contract. The aim of this once-renewable five-year contract is to construct 4 km of new line in the coming three years (three extensions) and an additional 15 km in the following five years (one additional lines).
The role of Egis Rail is included in a partnership agreement called "The Midland Metro Alliance" which brings together the Prime Contractor, the Construction Consortium and the Engineering Office.
Telecommunication Engineer will work closely with Egis Rail UK and other Egis subsidiaries.
The successful candidate will work with Low Voltage Power Supply (power), Signalling and Civil engineers (ducting, drainage) in order to provide a full telecom design that is cost effective and technically accurate
You will have:
- Demonstrate good amount of knowledge in three or more of the following telecom fields:
- AVLS
- Voice over internet protocol (VOIP)
- SCADA infrastructure and operations
- Wireless network architecture
- Access control Systems
- Passenger information systems
- Data networking routing protocols
- Internet protocol closed circuit television (IP-CCT) systems
- Structured cabling infrastructure – Copper and fibre optic
- Experience in the design of telecom equipment rooms
- Be familiar with all major telecommunication technologies both fixed and mobile, for data and voice applications
- Understand the implications and interfaces of ducting; demonstrate ability to produce adequate ducting requirements for all telecom equipment
- Have a good knowledge of the solutions that are available on the market (specifically for rail applications) and be able to introduce them in the design whenever there is such need
- Test and commissioning procedure knowledge would be greatly appreciated
