Telecoms Engineer in London, United Kingdom
Our client is urgently seeking a Telecoms Engineer for a 12 month contract.
Umbrella rate up to £437 per day
Crossrail is a new 73 mile railway line running through parts of London and the home counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex. The central section and a large portion of the line, between Paddington in central London and Abbey Wood in the south-east, are due to open in December 2018; when it will be named the Elizabeth line in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
The job holder will be required to work within the LU Crossrail team. They will provide communications discipline expertise and knowledge to ensure the successful integration between existing LU legacy communications systems and the new Crossrail systems at Crossrail interchange stations. The job holder must have a comprehensive knowledge of the following telecommunication systems found within the railway environment:
• Closed Circuit Television (both analogue and IP)
• Public Address/Voice Alarm systems
• Help Point/Intercom systems
• LAN/WAN
• Station Management/SCADA systems
• Telephony systems
The job holder should have a comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation and operating rules and regulations applicable to the railway environment, and shall possess the knowledge and capability to undertake site quality inspections and witnessing of system testing and commissioning. They should have extensive experience of providing professional and technical advice, guidance and support on telecommunications engineering issues within a project environment, experience of carrying out technical document review and analysis, and experience of working in a project team to build relationships with, and influencing, a range of people at all levels within LU and Crossrail. Although not essential, experience of working in engineering within the LU environment is highly desirable. The job holder must have the ability to understand and analyse test data results in order to recommend whether systems are safe to bring into operational use and to verify that systems are operating to the agreed design criteria.
