Test Engineer (Rail / Rolling Stock) - Liverpool (Allerton).

Our client is a renown train / Rolling Stock company who is involved in an exciting new railway project and who is witnessing a great expansion period at the moment.

We are currently looking for a Test Engineer (Mechatronics) to test the new trains before they enter into service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTIONS:

In this new role the Test Engineer will have the responsibility for testing and commissioning of test trains / Rolling Stock and for resolving any engineering issues that may arise during the test programme. This will involve you communicating with UK and overseas Engineers to enable you to fully understand the procedures. You will be responsible for the analysis of testing data and compiling technical reports and issue your findings to key stakeholders. The testing will involve all the trains sub-systems: electrical, electronics, software, communications, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc. You will be also managing a small team of Test Technicians.

• Developing Train Test Procedures and Method Statements to support the test program.
• Looking after the installation, integrity, maintenance and fault rectification of the train borne test equipment and managing the testing contractors as necessary in accordance with procedures.
• Ensuring measurement systems are documented and maintained in accordance with procedures.
• Carrying out Test and Commissioning duties, including maintaining testing logs and documents and controlling tests data in accordance with relevant procedures.
• Analysing test data and reporting on test results to relevant stakeholders.
• Liaise with relevant system experts in Engineering to progress commissioning and type testing issues.

WORK CONDITIONS:

- Type of contract: permanent.

- Work location: The role will be based in Allerton (South East Liverpool) but during the first initial months the Engineer will undergo an extensive training period in the company’s production and test centres in Europe (return trips to the UK + accommodation + daily bonus will be paid during this period). The training period will last 3 to 5 months.

- Work time: day time

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

• Minimum HND in engineering discipline: Electromechanical, Electronics / Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Power, Microcontrollers / PLCs, Aviation, Transportation, etc.
• Previous experience in a testing, commissioning, troubleshooting or maintenance role in railway / trains or similar sectors such as: Military, Aviation, Aerospace, Naval, Submarine, Ships, Aircrafts, Helicopters, Industry / Industrial, Plant, Robots, Control systems, Transportation, Microcontrollers / PLCs
• Previous experience as: Test / Commissioning Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Service Engineer, Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Installation Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, E&I Engineer, Automation Engineer, Rail Engineer, Train Engineer, Locomotive Engineer, etc.
• Ability to write detailed technical specifications reports.
