Environment Manager / Birmingham / 12 month rolling contract for the length of the 7 year project
Project - HS2
Salary/rate - £61,000 per annum plus 4 weeks leave and additional benefits
An opportunity has arisen for an Environment Manager to work on a large infrastructure project in Birmingham. HS2 is the largest infrastructure project in Britian and this is an opportunity to work on Phase 2a/2b.
Purpose:
- To manage and assure the area environmental assessment work (including associated assessments) developed for the hybrid bill for the project in accordance with organisational, sponsor and parliamentary requirements
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the Area Team's environmental assessment requirements and deliverables, working in close association with the rest of the Area Team, the other Phase Two Area Teams, the project's Technical Directorate and Cetral environment Team
- Provide client advice to develop environmental design solutions and ensure that environmental sustainaibility issues continue to be embedded as an integral part of the project design in accordance with the project's sustainability policies
- Work with other technical specialists e.g. engineers, to achieve high quality integrated designs and develop appropriate and cost balanced mitigation strategies
- Support the management of consultants appointed to undertake area environmental assessment and design in order to input on the environmental and sustainability aspects
- Working closely with the Area Senior Environment Manager, manage environmental support to the teams and preparation of petition responses and reports
Key requirements:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant environmental discipline - or equivalent experience
- Experience of managing Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) on large, complex projects
- Proven knowledge of EU and UK environment legislation and current best practice guidance
- Proven ability of managing individuals, consultants and of working across multi-disciplinary teams
