Role: Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Director
Location: Manchester or Leeds
Salary: Negotiable
Type: Permanent

I am looking to place an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team lead (AD / Director level) in an international, multidisciplinary engineering consultancys Manchester or Leeds offices. The firm has a track record of projects in over 70 countries, a team of 15,000 staff and is rated in the Top Ten by the NCE100 (New Civil Engineer Top 100 Companies of the Year 2018). This role would suit either an established team lead looking for a new challenge or someone looking to take a step up into a more senior-level management role.

It is likely that candidates will have attained formal education in one area, such as contaminated land, flood risk management, acoustics or air quality, and then diversified into a more generalist Environmental Management / EIA role with leadership responsibilities. The firm works across a range of disciplines within Civil, Structural and Environmental design projects including Residential, Healthcare, Defence, Energy, Highways, and more. In the short term, the primary focus of this role is within Infrastructure, Developments and Highways with a large portfolio in this area already. The firm requires support managing the increasing number of ongoing projects in the first instance, with development of further work streams as your role expands.

Ideally, you will have Chartered Environmentalist status through a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES).

Day-to-day responsibilities will include technical and operational leadership, project director duties for multiple projects in Infrastructure, Developments and Urban Regeneration, managing EIAs throughout conception, design and construction phases, liaising with private and public-sector clients, managing new and existing commercial relationships and mentoring more junior members of staff.

In return for the right Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) skills, team / project leadership and commercial acumen, the firm are offering a competitive salary, a range of benefits to suit individual requirements and the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals with exacting standards.

Job Requirements:
  • Relevant experience within Environmental Management / EIAs
  • Relevant education within Environmentalism/Engineering
  • Chartered Environmentalist status with relevant professional body e.g. IEMA / IES
  • Experience leading EIAs across different sectors (Infrastructure, Developments, Urban Regeneration, Construction, Energy, Marine etc)
