Assistant Design Manager
The role :
The work with other main site contractors in delivery design management.
Candidate should have experience for technical building design
1 to 3 years construction industry experience
Ideally have knowledge of 4 Projects/Viewpoint for projects
Key Skills
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following key attributes, providing clear and detailed examples of where and how they have successfully applied them on projects.
* Communication - Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. To construct and communicate ideas in a persuasive manner;
* A team player - Candidates should be team players, willing to put others and the project first whilst still delivering their own responsibilities;
* Planning - Able to establish project needs, including resources and deliverables, and to use these to develop a project delivery strategy and plan workloads for others;
* Negotiation - Able to negotiate; to find common ground with others and move projects forward obtaining an outcome which is in the interest of WSP|PB, our clients and acceptable to all parties;
* People Management - Experienced in managing teams, setting group and individual objectives and providing support;
* Project Management - Regardless of the individual project role, candidates should understand and be experienced in applying the principles and processes of project management as commonly expressed by APM, Prince2 etc.
* Problem Solving - Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to identify, classify and find solutions to problems.
* Manage risks & opportunities - Candidates should understand how to capture and manage risks and opportunities, develop mitigation measures to ensure risks are minimised and opportunities are maximised.
* Commercially minded - Candidates should understand business principles and be able to demonstrate how they have applied this to the management of projects.
* Adaptive - Candidates should be able to adapt their leadership approach to get the best out of individuals and organisations.
* Willingness to learn -Demonstrate being open minded with the willingness to learn and explore new ideas outside their own experience and adapt these to their own situation.
* Professional ethics - Demonstrate the highest professional ethical standards.
* Knowledge - Whilst candidates are expected to have an in depth knowledge of their core profession, they are also expected to demonstrate a broad understanding of design disciplines and the key interfaces between them;
* Sector awareness - Experience of delivering projects across various sectors is important. Candidates should be able to discuss and understand the key drivers for different sectors.
* Business Development - Experience of preparing and presenting tenders to clients as well as an interest in business development and work winning.
