£350 - £400 a day (minimum 6 month contract)

The Role

As Design Manager you will be the Decision Maker on the complete design of this business critical overhaul / upgrade project. You will be running a team of Solid Edge CAD designers (mechanical & electrical) with a view to completing the design by the end of March. As Design Manager you will then push the design through until handover to the customer. Recent CAD experience is vital as you will be expected to get stuck in and lead by example.

This business-critical post will involve;

• Initial Management of Design scope

• Hands on CAD designing on Solid Edge (other software users considered)

• Allocation of design objectives to your team

• Customer interaction and regular meetings

• Complete design responsibility

This position requires somebody who has the utmost confidence in their ability to manage the design and produce a World-Class product. Success in this role could lead to a further order of 8 times as many cabs as the initial project!!!

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Designer with a wealth of experience on CAD tools (Solid Edge preferred but not essential).You will have experience as the lead designer or manager on a multitude of Rolling Stock projects and will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and delegation skills.
