Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Document Controller to join VolkerRail Major Projects working on the Panel South Projects based out of central Birmingham.
This role will involve:
- Responsible for the day to day management of the project’s Document Control system across a variety of projects.
- Responsible for the formal issue and receipt of all contract and technical documentation to and from the Client and to and from VolkerRail to all other contracting parties within the projects using the electronic document control system
- Act as the single point of contact for the arrangement of all log-ins, technical assistance and quires regarding the project’s electronic document control system.
- Key Safety elements include issue of documentation to employee’s as an requirement for their role and / or competence, monitoring return of controlled document issues records within the timescales set and chasing out nil responses, initiating change to documents following notification of changes within the industry or client requirements and maintaining the ‘Standards’ intranet site.
- Maintain the document control issue matrices in line with current company or industry requirements.
Job Requirements
You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- Previous experience of working within a Document Control or a Quality Control environment in the railway industry would be a distinct advantage.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Packages and be able to work on their own initiative.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat would be a distinct advantage
- Detailed working knowledge of ProjectWise Document Control System as used by Network Rail on their projects.
- Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload.
