Job Description
To support continued expansion of our rail business, we are looking for candidates at all levels to work on our expanding portfolio of projects supporting the rail vehicles sector. Our work in this area is presently focussed on rail vehicle maintenance optimisation, franchise bid support, depot operation optimisation and related issues.
The vacancies will appeal to candidates who want the opportunity to:
- Work on varied, novel and challenging projects at the fleet and system level, with opportunities to apply their knowledge of, and investigate, the underlying technical issues as appropriate;
- Help continue the growth of the rail business in a successful engineering consultancy with the career progression opportunities that this brings;

- All roles will involve providing technical advice and consultancy services to a wide variety of projects. For more senior roles, you will also be involved in leading teams and developing market opportunities.
Requirements
You will have a degree in a relevant discipline and ideally be a member of a railway or engineering institute as well as experience in the rail sector appropriate to the three roles we are looking for:
Fleet Engineer (Burton, Dorking or Basingstoke)
You will have gained some commercial experience after graduating, predominantly gained in rolling stock depot environments.
You will be able to demonstrate experience in at least one of the following:
- Reliability improvement programmes
- Maintenance Improvement programmes
- Fleet Introduction
- Fleet operations / depot operations
Engineering Manager (Burton, Dorking or Basingstoke)
You will be a current engineering manager with significant experience working in rolling stock depot environments, managing engineering aspects of fleet operations and some experience of leading depot engineering activities.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of creating / managing and implementing:
- Reliability improvement programmes
- Maintenance Improvement programmes
- New fleet Introduction
- Fleet operations / depot operations
- Safety incidents and recovery plans
- Interaction with TUs
- Line management of local engineering team
Fleet Manager (Burton, Dorking, Basingstoke or Glasgow)
You will be a highly experienced fleet manager with significant experience working in rolling stock depot environments, managing all aspects of fleet operations and direct and indirect line management and come from an engineering background.
You will be able to demonstrate experience of creating / managing and implementing:
- Reliability improvement programmes
- Maintenance Improvement programmes
- Fleet Introduction
- Fleet operations / depot operations
- Safety incidents and recovery plans
- Interaction with TUs
- Line management of whole depot maintenance organisation
- Fleet strategy
- Resource optimisation
For the Fleet Manager roles, you will have established client relationships and the aptitudes to be able to build further relationships. Experience of franchise bid support is also desirable for this role.
