Head of Trains and Stations
Competitive Salary
Location: Leeds
Northern, part of the Arriva Group, is one of the largest train operators in the UK, and we’ve got an exciting future ahead. We’re introducing new trains and technology into our business to improve customer experience, and this role will be at the forefront of our new franchise. It’s a high profile role leading the largest regional business within Northern, and your opportunity to influence the future of rail services across the North of England.
We’re looking for a leader with the perfect blend of experience and charisma to engage, motivate and lead a team of talented rail professionals. You’ll develop and implement ways of working which ensure we operate a safe railway, whilst focussing on sustainability, profitability, customer satisfaction and the transformation requirements of the franchise. Building strong relationships and effective partnerships with clients and key stakeholder organisations, you’ll ensure the continued success of our services and the effective delivery of our stakeholder engagement strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and deliver train service performance and operational improvement plans ensuring we achieve on time targets.
- Lead a substantial team, driving cultural change and modernisation through creating an engaging work environment; one where our people thrive and grow their careers.
- Effectively implement station security arrangements in compliance with the Land Transport Security Division.
- Develop and deliver a budget to meet business needs and to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
- Deliver an efficient people resource plan, leading a high performing team who will deliver our customer experience targets whilst driving all commercial activities to maximise and sustain revenue.
You’ll be a strong business leader with a proven track record in transport operations, preferably in the rail industry, who can demonstrate success leading high performing teams. A strategic thinker with experience in leading and managing change, you’ll have strong negotiating and influencing ability, be financially astute and have an innovative approach to problem solving. Whilst experience of managing complex employee industrial relations matters would be advantageous, a focus on the delivery of outstanding customer service is essential.
