Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Track Infrastructure Maintenance Technician within our Edinburgh Trams Infrastructure Maintenance business.

Reporting to the Track Maintenance Manager you will work within the team of multidisciplinary Technicians in delivering the various elements of Edinburgh Tram Infrastructure Maintenance and Response service.

You will undertake the maintenance and associated activities that support the smooth functioning of the Edinburgh Tram Network. The role will be primarily track lead although you will be required to undertake all infrastructure maintenance activities to ensure the safe operation of the tram infrastructure.

As the right candidate you will have experience of working within a multidisciplinary maintenance organisation, preferably in the light rail sector. You will not be content with the status quo and will continuously search for ways to improve the service delivery through innovation and adoption of standard methodology from any arena. Key responsibilities of the role

  • Carry out routine planned and corrective maintenance of Tram Infrastructure
  • Handle operational safety issues affecting infrastructure maintenance daily
  • Assist Senior Technician when acting as liaison with the customer for out of course events as required
  • Undertake analyses of track data to identify future maintenance and renewal actions with a particular focus on track
  • Ensure that tasks are undertaken in accordance with mandated Siemens Mobility, Edinburgh Trams maintenance standards
  • Work with Operational control where needed
  • Ensure that any Infrastructure/Plant defects are recorded on the Maintenance Management System (MMS) and acted upon in accordance with the performance regime
  • Ensure that all Siemens Mobility Infrastructure Technical, Health and Safety and environmental processes and procedures are followed

Knowledge and experience

  • Previous experience in track maintenance and engineering preferably in a Light Rail environment
  • Experience in undertaking track inspections and supervise corrective work
  • Experience of completing all records of actions and operations accurately and to procedures
  • Knowledge of health and safety including risk assessment, manual handling and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Ability to work as a part of team
  • Knowledge of IT systems and software
  • Good communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Full Drivers Licence

The post will also attract a shift allowance and we will provide you with training, where needed, to acquire the necessary skills for this role.
