Innovation Programme Manager (Major Project) - £700-750 per day Contract
The Innovation Manager is a senior manager position and will be a focal point for the promotion and development of the innovation within this project. It will include supporting the positioning of Innovation within the project and input into the client's overall innovation strategy.
The role will be key in influencing, steering and adapting ideas from within the organisation and proactively sourced externally. The role will be accountable for identifying and managing ideas, assessing feasibility and risk of ideas taken from throughout the organisation, stakeholders and suppliers. And ultimately facilitating their implementation.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience of owning and directing a large portfolio of projects across a broad range of technical and commercial areas in a complex safety critical programme
- Commercial acumen and experience of commercial delivery of new products and services
- Negotiation and management of Intellectual Property Resources in complex stakeholder environments
- Working in highly dynamic environments often with tight timescales
- Practitioner in managing the innovation process and landscape in a complex environment;
- Demonstrable capability in driving innovation and fostering change within large scale capital and, or technical programmes;
- Has operated or consulted at all levels within a complex organisation including director and board level;
- Demonstrable evidence of effective leadership, communication, influencing and team working;
- Significant expertise in risk management whilst maximising the benefits delivered by innovation;
- Track record of developing and continually improving effective and efficient innovation processes. And providing meaningful guidance and support to colleagues in cross functional disciplines to support ideas through the processes;
- Knowledge of rail, construction, infrastructure desirable;
Type of experience:
- Innovation, business development
- Cross sector experience in both large and small organisations
- Managing multiple innovation projects in flight
- Understanding when and how to progress or discontinue innovations
- Ability to present at senior level and lobby at across all levels of an organisation
- Working within a complex supply chain, having strong capability to persuade and influence without having direct responsibilities
- Proven ability to identify, develop and scale up innovations for business improvements
Required Criteria:
- Decision making
- Jobholder makes decisions with respect to delivery to time, cost and quality, reaching decisions autonomously to deliver objectives
- Jobholder escalates decision making to Head of Innovation on critical matter that impact Strategy delivery
- Background in Civil Engineering / Chemist
- Ideally - Noise Reduction on MAJOR projects
