A leading client in the Rail Industry is recruiting for an Assistant QS to work on a permanent basis, based in Warwickshire, Midlands.
Role Profile:
* Administering the financial and commercial duties on various Rail projects.
* Taking ownership of the P&L, the change register and the various other contract required documents keeping them up to date.
* Assist the project management team with financial information and advice.
* Ensuring all team members are kept up to date on their financial position.
* Maintain a good working relationship with the customer commercial team.
Typical Deliverables:
* Liaise with project team to attain project progress
* Forecast sales / costs based on information obtained from the project team
* Price additional work and variations to the projects
* Create a customer relationship with the PM & Commercial
* Produce payment applications / change requests / customer letters
* Prepare and agree Final Account with customer
* Manage & analyse project costs from Oracle - Interrogate the data
* Manage the P&L and change register on a daily basis
* Assist in solving any disputes over the contract with the customer
* Keep accurate records and an audit trail - UCM
* Attend & produce contract review paperwork (Monthly)
* Update Hyperion forecasts on time
* Ensure the Commercial section of monthly progress reports are completed on time
* Complete Oracle set-up forms and CF53 for new projects
* Ensure that KPI figures are submitted on time
* Co-ordinate with the Bid Team when producing quotations
Business Operations Skills - Experience:
* Previous experience of using a company finance system (not necessarily Oracle)
* Financial and commercial management of projects
Business Operations Skills - Qualifications:
* BSc Quantity Surveying and/or proven experience of working within a contracting organisation
* Good working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite of programs
Behavioural Requirements:
*Rail Code of Conduct
*Have willingness and enthusiasm to gain further QS related qualifications.
Can facilitate 1 day a week at college/uni to study course
Rail background not required (although may be useful)
Training and guidance will be provided
Enthusiasm and passion are the main attributes of interest
