Lead Design Engineer (Civils)

£40-43k + bonus

Our client are currently looking to recruit a Lead Engineer to be based from their offices in Birmingham. This role will be ideally suited to a Senior Civil Engineer looking for more of a leading role within a rail design team. Responsible for the production of activities, you will be required to assist in directing the team in the completion of allocated works, as well as reporting on progress, and agreeing any alterations to the programme, to and with the Design Manager. Also required to perform the duties of the Responsible Design Engineer for projects, you will prepare and deliver all technical briefings. You will be pivotal in forecasting manpower, as well as assisting in staff welfare, development and training, and acting as Design Mentor when required. Professional and commercially astute you will provide costings as required and will liaise effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Ideally looking for a Senior Civil Engineer, ready to make the move to the next level in his or her career, the client are looking to recruit a candidate with both leadership and motivational skills. Already working within the Rail Civils Industry, you will be computer literate and experienced in design software, with working knowledge of AutoCAD, TEDDS, Pframe / Superstress essential and knowledge of Slope W and Repute desirable. Well presented, and with good communication skills, your persuasive and interpersonal skills will be second to none. You must be willing to learn, and in a position to work away from home on occasion. The candidate will be either Chartered or working towards Chartership, with a minimum of 5 years design experience.
