Level Crossing Engineer *Job Summary There is a requirement for a level crossing engineer with experience acting as a Civil Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) to support the rail team in the Northern region, working on projects across the region and nationally as may be required

Main responsibilities:-

• Determining the civils design requirements from our client brief making sound decisions to produce the right design solution;
• Leading the required civils design for multidisciplinary design teams on large or medium sized projects;
• Checking the civils designs and calculations;
• Sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation across our business, providing guidance, training and feedback with other related disciplines and skills, locally and across the UK;
• Leading the production of designs that are right first time and support our creation of a culture of quality;
• Leading the identification and elimination or mitigation of risks during the design process and the production of deliverables that support the Safe By Design process. Producing focussed and high quality designer risk assessments;
• Managing project civils resources and identifying shortfalls and issues in a timely manner such that programme timescales are not compromised;
• Mentoring junior engineers;
• Managing your own personal development utilising our in house and external training opportunities, with the freedom to work independently.

*Minimum Requirements Experience in leading and checking civil engineering production of feasibility, scheme and detailed design reports, layouts, schematics and calculations within multidisciplinary rail projects;

Competent in the production, checking and approval of designs for ancillary and lineside civil engineering, including foundations, structures and supports for signalling infrastructure, equipment buildings / cubicles / staging, compounds, cable routes, under track crossings and station platforms;

Acted in the role of client facing Rail Civil Contractor Responsible Engineer (CRE);

Awareness and usage of ProjectWise;

Design of level crossing ground plans, including coordination of all disciplines’ inputs

Competent in the production of drawings using CAD (e.g. Bentley MicroStation) software;

Commercial awareness, managing change;

Experience in undertaking site surveys / site visits and reporting on asset condition *Preferred Qualifications An appropriate Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
