MEPS Services Manager in Birmingham, West Midlands, United Kingdom
Due to progressive growth and an enviable workbook, my client a Rail Engineering Contractor are looking to recruit a MEPS Services Manager on a permanent basis working from my clients West Midlands offices.
Reporting to the Engineering Director the intended focus of the role you will be carrying out will be to assist the Tendering & Project Teams with the delivery of the M&E (Mechanical, Electrical, Sprinklers, Refrigeration and Utilities) packages from design to commissioning and handover.
Your role is primarily for the Rail division but you will be required to support all sectors of my clients business that encompasses Build and Civil Engineering.
Whilst working with the tendering team you will be:
- Working closely with the tender and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) teams to devise discipline delivery strategy and assist in the selection of appropriate engineering services to support the tender and project design development process
- During tender or ECI phases and working closely with the tender team members providing support to the technical management teams in delivering the design of compliant value engineered solutions and provision of other required supporting documentation in accordance with the tender/development programme.
- Assisting the Commercial teams in appointing professional and engineering design services, and then providing ongoing technical support to our design managers during delivery of the services.
- Managing solution and value engineering process between construction and design teams to ensure the most efficient and effective solutions selected and agreed both at tender and contract stage
Whilst working with the Project teams and subcontractors you will be providing support with:
- Undertake discipline specific CRE construction duties as defined by Network Rail Company Standards of appointed by CEM.
- Assisting the project team as directed by the Project Manager specifically in respect of the management of discipline activities and specialists on site.
- Carryout weekly M&E report sheets for with Project Managers on each project.
- Progress review and Quality review and assurance
- Input to Project P6 programme for specialist discipline activities
- Review the Construction sequences
- Integration with other MEP related contractors (Lifts, Escalators, Doors etc)
- Adequate provision for commissioning
When the project is at commissioning stage to manage the commissioning and handover of the services as follows:
- Commissioning Management
- Systems Integration
- Consultant Witnessing
- Client Demonstrations
- Review M&E Section O&M manuals
- Part L ‘As Built’ sign off for M&E Aspect of project
- End User Training
Your existing skills, qualifications and experience:
- Previous demonstrable experience within M&E Rail Sector at a level which encompasses the roles and responsibilities as described above
- Appointed as or working towards Contractors Responsible Engineer (M&E)
- Personal Track Safety (PTS Card)
- Electrical Qualification or Degree related (electrical bias)
