Salary: £35k - £40k per annum

Since 2001, Assenta Rail has provided management, design and maintenance and support services for niche rail operations in the UK and Ireland. Assenta has seen steady growth in recent years and we are looking to expand our team to continue to support our client’s requirements.
An experienced Maintenance Engineer is required to manage running maintenance and overhaul programs on MK1, MK2 and MK3 rolling stock.
The candidate will be based in Edinburgh, Scotland and will be required to travel at times to other locations in the UK and Ireland.
Preferred Experience:
• Leading multi-disciplined rail vehicle maintenance activities
• Overhauls/maintenance and modifications of rolling stock with sound knowledge of BT10, BT42 and BT43 bogies and running gear
• Refurbishment of rail vehicles and their sub-systems
• Working with VMOI’s, Railway Group Standards, ROGS and other railway specific engineering standards and approval processes.
• Mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge and the ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Understanding of production efficiency techniques
• Solving problems and developing effective solutions to meet production deadlines
• Computerised record keeping, report writing and project planning
• Possess a customer focused approach
• Excellent communicator with people management and supervisory skills
• Clean Drivers Licence
• Qualification to HND or higher in a Mechanical/Electrical discipline
The Maintenance Engineer role:
• Lead with a hands-on approach, a small maintenance team
• Lead the engineering activities for running maintenance and overhaul
• Ensuring work locations are fit for purpose and compliant with standards
• Liaise and co-ordinate planned work and support services with the client and sub-contractors
• Assist with the management of maintenance time plans and budgets
• Co-ordinate maintenance processes and procedures
• Work closely with the ECM team to manage documentation
• Record and compile data into a technical maintenance files
• Implementing and maintaining safety systems, production efficiency and quality output
• Ensuring the safe working practices and standards in the workshop and off site locations
• Assisting in developing VMOI’s and competence assessments for team members
• Mentoring and coaching team members to ensure job requirements are fulfilled
• Operating workshop plant as required, within operating limits
• Implementing customer requirements and assisting with continuous improvement innovations
• Attend project review meetings
• Travel between UK and Ireland
