A highly experienced professional engineer with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the railway sector. The successful candidate must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance techniques and have strong organisation and leadership skills.
The Maintenance Support Engineer has responsibility for supporting the client in all aspects of the maintenance and overhaul of the units and ensuring that the safety, reliability, availability and maintenance targets are achieved.
The Maintenance Support Engineer reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Management of the onsite team.
- Lead and direct the depot organisation, to achieve production & budgetary targets.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in the optimisation and update of the maintenance schedules, instructions and manuals.
- Identification of maintenance improvements to enhance the reliability of the fleet and reduce downtime due to maintenance.
- Control of all technical documentation & information used by the maintenance team on site.
- Delivery of the maintenance targets required for the Services.
- Ensuring compliance with all processes and procedures to deliver the Services.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in the maintainability reviews with the customer.
- Review of the Operational/ Production maintenance plan to ensure maximum availability of the trains.
- Review and planning of material forecasts for preventive maintenance.
- Provide support and technical advice to the client regarding all maintenance activities.
- Support the Maintenance Manager in planning and execution of the fleet overhaul programme.
- Generation of the Maintenance/ technical KPI’s.
Technical Competencies
Essential
- HND or above in an Engineering related discipline
- Proven experience in planning and organising
- Experience writing technical reports
- Valid driver’s license
Desirable
- Experience in applying Lean principles
- Experience delivering training
- Health and Safety qualification (i.e. IOSH/ NEBOSH Certification)
