The job holder will provide duties as an OLE Project Engineer as part of SPL Powerlines UK Ltd on a joint venture in Derby.

MAIN DUTIES:
  • Management of OLE construction staff through CM & Supervisor.
  • Manage all aspects of OLE projects to ensure they are delivered safely, to programme, to the required standards and within budget.
  • Meet and communicate with clients representatives (Project Managers, engineers, planners, quantity surveyors, designers) to ensure projects are delivered to meet their requirements from tender stage to final hand over.
  • Ensure that up to date records of all aspects of individual projects are maintained and are available for audit purposes.
  • Liaise with client’s quantity surveyors and provide information / records to assist in any commercial / contractual issues.
  • Help PM& CM with organising the roster staff to meet the project requirements.
  • Close and frequent communication with site supervision to relay information.
  • Ensure that “for construction” project specific drawings and specifications are available.
  • Requisition OLE materials in advance to meet project programme and report any shortages to materials manager.
  • Ensure all checks have been carried out for all tools / plant for the equipment and available certificates are checked.
  • Preparation of project specific risk assessments / WPP’S and TB’S.
  • When you are the senior site representative on site ensure that all briefings have taken place to all your staff regarding the work to be carried out including the content of risk assessments / Tool box talks / WPP briefings
  • Ensure that you and your staff receive a briefing SSOW / E-Permits regarding the railway safety protection in place i.e. possession details, isolation details etc.
  • Calculate dimensions for fabricated all OLE Equipment as required.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to monitor progress and check quality of installation making sure ITP’’S are correctly completed.
  • When required work on site to manage / assist installation teams
  • Carry out site surveys of completed installations to measure / record as built information.
  • Conduct regular site safety tours/inspections and compile reports. Ensure any NCRs raised are closed out.
  • Assist SPL Powerlines UK Limited to carry out internal / external audits.
  • Ensure that all environmental issues are adhered to within the Company’s Environmental Awareness and Education Module.
  • Provide technical back up.
THE PERSON
  • Ideally possess a Commercial HNC/ONC minimum 18 month experience
  • Project management experience, ideally within the OLE railway industry
  • Valid PTS
  • Risk Assessment
  • Computer literacy including various software programmes.
  • Willingness to travel and to learn and open minded for new technologies
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and support as required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Full driving licence and vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to stay calm and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to different locations as and when required.

Experience required

  • Experienced being responsible for all projects reporting in accordance with client requirements.
  • Producing reports to include design and site progress, identification of critical resource elements, lost time delays and accident reporting.
