JOB TITLE: Planner - Rail
LOCATION: Manchester or Leeds
SALARY: £300-450 Per Day (Umbrella)
THE CLIENT
My client is a multinational infrastructure group who are currently recruiting for a Planner to join them on a Rail project on an initial 6 month contract basis. This role will fall within IR35 so we are unable to recruit any candidates who wish to be paid via a Ltd company
THE ROLE
* You need to be commercially aware Project Planner with sound technical knowledge to be an integral part of our North West & Yorkshire Rail team that is highly motivated and with a desire to deliver meaningful work with successful outcomes for our clients through innovative solutions.
* Ensuring the successful delivery of technically excellent multidisciplinary rail projects and bids across our UK portfolio, you will be responsible for, and typical activities will include:
o Support pre-award, bid and project teams in the production of resource and cost loaded design delivery programmes.
o Manage the compliant planning of all activities associated with successful delivery of projects with clear logic and contingency.
o Deliver a comprehensive reporting / management information solution for Earned Value Management, cost & schedule variance, estimates of fees, costs and profit at completion and Critical Path Analysis.
o Act as or support the Project Manager in respect of successful delivery of our projects, running or assisting with project delivery and implementation of the project schedule
o Sharing knowledge, best practice and innovation across our business, providing guidance, training and feedback with other related disciplines and skills, locally and across the UK.
* The position offers scope for personal skill development, especially in relation to increasing of project planning expertise within a Rail environment, defining best practice and mentoring more junior members of the team. The focus will be on developing existing skills and experience and sharing this experience with other team members, in a stimulating and thriving project environment, and so enhancing Arup's overall multidisciplinary design and advisory rail capability.
Relationships
* Reporting to our Project Management Team Leader, you will work with project teams of rail design teams at bid and project delivery stage. You will also develop relationships with our wider Project Management and rail communities across the UK and our client engineering, assurance and project teams.
ABOUT YOU
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Expert knowledge of Primavera software and experience of MS Project
* Competent in the production, maintenance and presentation of project or programme based reports, including performance, forecasting for multidisciplinary design projects
* Experience of Critical Path Analysis
* Ability to monitor and control schedule compliance in respect of contractual obligations
* Experience in a Rail Engineering/Consultancy environment
Qualifications
* Appropriate degree, HND or higher qualification
* Ideally an Associate Member/Member of professional institute such as Association for Project Management (APM).
