McGinley Support Services operate as an employment business and currently seek to recruit an experienced Principal Technical Offier (TQS) for a Contract based in Exeter
Job Title - Principal Technical Officer (TQS)
Location - Exeter, Brisol and Swindon
About the role / project:
Our prestigious rail client is looking for a PTO who will be primarily based in Exeter but the work required will also include sites in Bristol and Swindon. The role will be to focus on a set of projects delivering plain line track renewals in the Exeter, Bristol and Swindon areas, as part of the western route upgrades. The contractor will be required to provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineering team, producing survey design and delivering that design on track.
Job Description Accountabilities;
1.Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements, plans and other instructions.
2.Manage and check the quality of work delivered and confirm assets are compliant to standards.
3.Manage the preparation of work and resource specifications, method statements and plans.
4.Manage information to update systems, databases and records.
5.Adhere to company policies and procedures.
6.Undertake and supervise technical tasks, survey and design work.
7.Design, install, test and commission equipment.
8.Provide technical support and guidance.
9.Manage and supervise the delivery and output of On Track Machine operations.
10.Undertake technical inspections, tests, investigations and analysis of technical data.
11.Update and provide information to accurately update systems, databases and records as required.
12.Prioritise work arising and agree work plans for the group.
13.Prepare specifications and requisition for materials.
14.Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment.
15.Contribute to your own development and that of others.
Their experience will include:
Plain line & Track renewals experience
Survey - Essential in 2D or 3D
Design - Essential in 2D
Understanding of trackside equipment such as laser dozers
Maintain records and as builds
Stressing Level 1-3 as an advantage
Rail experience as an advantage
Knowledge and experience of technical support activities and techniques.
Knowledge and experience of permanent way maintenance and construction management process, systems and standards.
Knowledge and experience of design requirements, processes and techniques.
Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Able to coach, influence and develop others.
Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
Ideally hold or be working towards and NVQ level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in an engineering/leadership subject.
Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
