Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are working with one of UK based rail clients who are a provider of software products for railway operations and signalling.

The aim of this role is to deliver agreed programmes of work to time, budget and quality. This is to be achieved by co-ordinating and managing project management and project support staff within our client's operations department.

Responsibilities

• Compliance against Business objectives
• Day to day management of Project Managers and Project support staff or staff assigned by the Operations Manager
• Management Reporting into formal monthly reports cycle including monitoring / production of KPIs
• Effective resource assignment, in conjunction with the Resource Manager, to achieve project delivery and meeting departmental resource utilisation targets
• Project compliance against Business Management System
• Holding projects to account including quality, risk, issue, schedule, technical and financial performance
• Timely and appropriate reporting / escalation of issues and risks

Qualifications & Experience

• Requires proven experience as a Programme Manager, working within a busy Project Management Office, or as a Senior Project Manager running a number of projects in parallel
• Resilience and self-reliance. This role requires a leader who is a self-starter and confident in their own abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• People management skills including line management of teams in excess of 10
• Commercial acumen, project level financial management and budget control
• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Project, Office Suite and Excel
• In-depth understanding of Project lifecycles
• Experience of working in highly regulated industries, ideally rail although candidates with experience in similar industries such as oil and gas, or aerospace will also be considered
