This is an amazing opportunity for someone who is an experienced Buyer looking to take on greater responsibilities and challenge themselves within a growing family run company.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility of the company's procurement of materials, plant and work equipment and facilities at competitive rates to protect the Company's interests and deliver tender-plus margins.

This role reports directly to the Commercial Director. The Company Buyer will also have direct line management responsibility for 2no Stores personnel.

The Company itself is a well-established family run business who historically specialised within the Rail Sector however, have reformed their plans to diversify into multiple other sectors such as Highways, Building Refurbishments and Facilities and Maintenance in order to grow the business. The Company is looking to turnover £30m by the end of 2025 with 30% of that being from non Rail and to do so need to expand an already thriving team to add to their resilient culture.

Objective and Purpose of the Job:

• Procurement and of all materials, plant and work equipment at competitive rates for the company
• Setting up and managing annual frameworks for supply and hire including volume discounts
• Placing orders with suppliers
• Assisting the Estimating dept and project teams with obtaining competitive quotes from suppliers
• Setting up & managing Supplier Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Safe and effective management of all offices and store facilities
• Ensuring that all approved Sub-contractors are recorded on the Company databases and all
• Relevant documentation is checked and up to date

Requirements:

• 5 years' experience in a similar role
• Communicates effectively, able to speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication techniques and tools
• IT proficient in MS Office, in particular Word and Excel
• Good time management skills, making sure to meet client deadlines
• The ability to work well as part of a cohesive team, as well as the initiative to work as an individual when required
• A positive attitude with high levels of commitment to challenges and professional standards
• Taking ownership and accountability for own actions and decisions
