Railway Site Access Controller’s (SACs)

MacRail Systems is a family run, IT based company with around 130 employees nationally. We are currently recruiting Railway Site Access Controller’s (SACs) for immediate start to work on railway engineering sites around the Lancashire, Sussex, Kent and South London areas.

As a SAC you are responsible for allowing access and egress to site. No experience of the rail industry and/or site access is necessary.

As a SAC you must ensure that all workforce signing on to the site are qualified to work, have the correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are read a Health and Safety brief. For a full list of duties please see the job description in the recruitment section of our website.

To carry out this role SACs must need to have the following skills and attributes:

• The ability to effectively communicate (both verbal and written)
• Confident and assertive
• Ability to remain calm and level headed in pressurised environments
• Competent to deal with groups of people, including delivering important Health & Safety information
• IT literacy
• Being professional at all times - you will be representing both MacRail and the client
• You must have a full UK driving license and have access to a car

Terms and Conditions:

This position is generally weekends (Friday p.m. - Monday a.m.) both days and nights, some midweek work may be available.

Shifts are generally between 10 and 12 hours in length. Ideally you will be seeking 2-4 shifts per week and where possible will be flexible to work across the whole week.

Site Access Controllers are employed on casual zero hour contracts on a permanent basis and paid monthly. Holiday pay is accrued and paid as requested. This job would suit someone who is looking for casual work or to top up a midweek job.

Rates of pay per hour:

Training £7.20
Midweek Days £8.47
Midweek Nights £8.66
Weekends £10.15

A London weighting rate of £1 extra per hour is paid when working within the M25 motorway boundary.

The area of work will vary week to week and so candidates will be required to have their own independent transport and be willing to travel, typically up to 60 miles but could be further. Mileage is paid at 25p per mile and also paid monthly. In some circumstances, where necessary, accommodation local to the worksite will be arranged. Full training, uniform and equipment are provided.
