My client, a leading self delivery contractor, who have a substantial forward order book for the next four years, are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join there rail electrification side of the business.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor is going to be the operational lead under the Commercial Manager and has responsibility for project commercial activities within Rail Electrification. The role is based out of a central London office, supporting a rail client on a major rail project.
Responsibilities:
* Manage/Lead Project Commercial Activities.
* Responsible to the Commercial Manager for all project commercial activities pertaining to allocated projects.
* Establishment and maintenance of the appropriate project commercial controls to deliver the business objectives
* Develop project procurement strategy and program in conjunction with the procurement team.
* Management of the project full sub-contract cycle including preparation of flow down documentation, with the Procurement team and production of liability sheets.
* Preparation and reporting of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation and associated information for management review.
* Management of application and credit control processes ensuring positive cash flow.
* Management and avoidance of disputes.
* Identify and preparation of variations to contracts.
* Input into the management of change control system and increases to contract value ensuring any agreement within Levels of Authority.
* Escalation of potential EOT claims. Manage / provide required commercial project specific backup information and support claim submissions.
* Support the management of project risk.
* Provision of basic commercial advice to Project teams.
* Support the production of client and internal reports.
* Input into the development of team spirit and trustworthiness within Project commercial team, Client and Subcontractors.
* Performance Management and continuous improvement of the commercial processes and controls within the business.
* Support tender pricing activities as and when required.
* Work in close conjunction with project managers, sales, procurement, finance, and engineering to achieve the business results.
* Develop profitable customer commercial relationships.
Requirements/Qualifications:
* Appropriate and relevant experience and in depth knowledge of commercial activities.
* BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or other equivalent construction / commercial related subject. Preferably qualified CIOB or RICS accreditation (or working towards it).
* Experience in dealing with a rail client, contract terms and conditions and Rail Projects.
* Self motivated.
* Strong communication skills.
* Strong planning and organising skills.
