SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Job Summary

We are looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Plant & Welding business which will be based in Frodingham, North Lincolnshire.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, key duties will include:

• Line management of the commercial teams supporting Possession Only Machines, Hired Plant and Welding businesses
• Production of monthly accounting, costing, contract, management and financial information on a timely basis for inclusion in the monthly accounts package.
• Briefing the Project/Operations Managers on the bill of quantities, specification and contractual implications of ongoing and new projects.
• Liaison with the Project/Operations Managers, regarding ongoing costs, current position and variations in contracts.
• The monitoring of costs against tender/contract specifications and agreements. Advising the Commercial Manager immediately of any major problem areas.
• Liaison with Clients giving and receiving costing information with regard to ongoing contracts, notifying clients using the appropriate methods of any variations to cost or specification and gaining the relevant authorisation. Raising any variation orders or claims as appropriate.
• The development of new and follow-up business including the provision of quotes on minor works.

Job Requirements

Previous and significant experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor or equivalent commercial role is essential. Experience of working within the rail or plant hire industry would be a distinct advantage.

The successful candidate will also have the following experience/skill set:

• A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
• Well developed people management skills
• Influencing and negotiation skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills
• Flexible/proactive – can do attitude who shows initiative to support others
• Full UK driving licence
