Position: Senior Transport Planner - (Perm Contract)

Target: Experienced Senior Transport Planner for road and/or public transport studies, who is accredited with a degree in either transport planning, civil engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, geography or other relevant discipline, 2:1 or above.

Rewards: £35K-£45K D.O.E + Benefits.

My Client is a global business consulting firm with over 65 years of deep expertise in infrastructure advisory and consulting services and proven success in the markets it serves. They are a leading consultancy providing strategic, commercial, and technical advice to clients.

They provide a full range of transport planning services including development control, policy development, spatial planning and transport strategy, major scheme business case support, traffic engineering and traffic signal support (including ITS), road safety, transport modelling and economics, travel planning and stakeholder engagement, strategy and policy advice covering all modes of transport. This enables them to offer transport planning staff an interesting and diverse workload that supports career development needs and assists in obtaining chartership status.

As a Consultant or Senior Transport Planner, you will be part of a respected and ambitious team with excellent career prospects and international opportunities. You will be involved in delivering a wide range of transportation projects, for various high profile clients across the UK, undertaking policy work, research, analysis and appraisal as well as transport and traffic modelling using a range of platforms.

As part of this role you will work as an Assistant Project Manager, and you will be responsible for the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme reports and models etc. The role may also encompass resource, financial and commercial management. You will also mentor and develop members of the team.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience as a Transport Planner for road and/or public transport studies, with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects.
  • Accredited degree in either transport planning, civil engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, geography or other relevant discipline, 2:1 or above.
  • Ability to work both as part of a sophisticated multi-disciplinary team as well as possessing the ability to work independently to solve problems.
  • Interest in, and understanding of, transport planning issues
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong computer software skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication in particular the ability to communicate technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • A strong technical background with demonstrable experience in transport planning, transport strategy, infrastructure, strategic modelling, and project appraisal
  • Ability to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports from transport models and transport appraisal techniques.
  • Proven Project Management experience demonstrating responsibility for tasks' financial and risk controls is beneficial
  • Track record of successfully mentoring and developing junior colleagues
