The Site Manager is responsible for the safe management and delivery of works on site. You are responsible for ensuring all HSE and CDM criteria are adhered to and all relevant safety requirements are met and implemented. You are responsible for ensuring all required reports, audits and quality requirements are undertaken and reported on in accordance with the required timescales as advised. You are responsible for the delivery schedule and must ensure that all required materials are ordered in sufficient time to allow installation in accordance with the schedule. You are expected to be an example of safe working practices and will actively encourage the participation in BCM’s “see it, sort it, report it” scheme, to promote safe working.
You are responsible for the safety and well -being of the entire site based personnel and the environment around the site. The site manager is responsible to communicate any site based issues to the Construction / project manager for review.
General Duties
Your responsibility is to ensure all safety measures deemed as a requirement for whichever operation is being undertaken.
Your responsibility to accurate records of plant and materials are kept and to ensure we minimise damage to hired plant and machines.
You must make sure the equipment and materials you are using is approved, safe and appropriate for the work you are doing
You will be expected to manage the site and personnel on that site on a day to day basis.
You are responsible for executing all reasonable duties that may be required by your specific project as delegated to you by direct or other senior managers
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma, Degree, HND or other work based qualifications.
Experience as a Site Manager with in the rail construction sector, ideally electrifcation expereince also.
technical / trade experience with in the railway
Knowledge
Working knowledge of railway safety rules and requirements
Construction knowledge
Trade specific knowledge
Knowledge of working on major infrastructure projects
Skills and abilities
Ability to work with and manage people
Ability to inspire and promote safe working practices
Ability to work and plan proactively
Ability to control a budget
Ability to allocate sufficient resources and manpower.
Attitude
A positive attitude in pressure situations with complex technical and safety requirements.
Someone who is to advance and develop as part of the BCM team. Someone who looks for solutions to problems and is confident in their own judgment.
