My client is one of the most successful Original Equipment Manufacturers worldwide who have been expanding rapidly within the railway sector with turnover of around £80 billion across the company. They lead the way within the UK market providing reliability and high quality maintenance on modern rolling stock assets.

The company have secured a number of high profile orders with full lifecycle maintenance contracts to manufacture and maintain high value capital equipment. THE ROLE

On a typical day you will be part of a small team all reporting to the Wheel Lathe Technician. You will be taking the wheels off the train and using CNC machines to make improvements on any defects. After programming the machines, you will hit the magic button and you’ll be left with a well maintained wheel ready to roll out into service. Your shift pattern will be 4 on 4 off then moving to 5 on 5 off. To me that sounds great! You’ll be free as a bird for 4/5 full days!

You will play a wheelie important role in the planned maintenance of wheel lathes, wheel turning and ensuring that you provide a high standard finish on the wheels to improve the durability of the train wheels. With your attention to detail you will make sure that the wheels meet the correct specification to make sure the trains meet overall reliability and safety targets of the trains.
