Rail Operations Standards Specialist - Birmingham

Our client are a leading train operating company within the West Midlands, They require an experience Operations Standards Specialist to join their team.
Role Description
The main purpose of this role will be to ensure company compliance with the Safety Critical Work Regulations, Group Operational Standards and other railway legislation within the Traincrew and Safety Critical Management teams. Reporting into the Operations Standards Manager you will be expected to make decisions based on knowledge, experience, industry and company operational codes of practice. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining & measuring safety critical & competency management systems. This will include reducing operational incidents and accidents, by preparing strategies based on lessons learned & industry good practice.
The responsibilities of this role are varied and will include but not limited to:-
- Preparing company procedures in response to operational related standards,
- Act as the company ''Lead Investigator'' as required,
- Ensure company compliance with Railway Group Standards,
- Organise Traincrew competency management system, including Traincrew, Traincrew Managers & Lead Traincrew Managers,
- Carry out quantitative risk assessments as necessary.
You will be expected to deal with internal & external contacts within the organisation.
Required Experience
Candidates wishing to apply for this role must have a minimum of 5 years experience within a rail operations environment. Train driving experience is desirable but not essential & any candidates with experience of carrying out accident/incident investigation would be advantage.
Candidates wishing to apply for this role must be computer literate and have knowledge of software including Word, Excel & Outlook. A NEBOSH general certificate is also required to be considered for this position.
