The Opportunity

Our client is a single source of a complete range of specialist skillsets, resources and technologies that seek to improve the country's railway systems. Due to the continued expansion of the business and the consistent winning of high profile projects, the need for a junior project engineer has arisen to join an expanding team.

This is an exciting position, offering a recent graduate the chance to immerse themselves within the rail industry, gaining in-depth exposure to full project lifecycles and the ability to work autonomously to accelerate your career within rail.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of technical proposals to best meet customer requirements to their maintenance requirements using the following skills:
  • Performing condition assessments of customer equipment either in house or at the customer site.
  • Gather background information to support proposals
  • Reviewing manuals, drawings, BOM's and Return on Experience (REX).
  • Generate technical reports to define the scope of work required together with detailed technical justification.
  • Gather costing information from production sites or suppliers on proposal to allow for the commercial proposal to be generated
  • Preparation of Service offers, specifications and calculations to the highest standards:
  • Definition and Selection of suitable products
  • Equipment proposal drawings
  • Definition and design of test benches and test specification

The Candidate

Ideally you will be a Graduate in any engineering discipline, or come from an Apprentice trained background holding a minimum HNC / HND qualification. Your tenacity and technical ability sourced from your studies / training will provide you with the first-hand tools required to succeed in this position. It is important that you are driven, organised and passionate about achieving results.

Essentials

  • A min 2:2 Degree in a recognised engineering subject.
  • Numerate and literate to GCSE standard
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal & written English
  • Excellent technical presentation skills
  • Communicate at all levels, shop floor to senior management.
  • Strong engineering background with sound mechanical experience and reasonable understanding of electrical disciplines
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents.
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • IT literate and fully conversant with all Microsoft office applications and 3D CAD
  • Strong organisation & prioritisation skills
  • Able to listen to listen to instructions and ask questions if required to clarify.
  • Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision
  • Flexible attitude to work and changing environment
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Flexible for travel in the UK, Europe and Worldwide from time to time.
