Graduate Recruitment & Development Advisor
Purpose of the Role
Provide recruitment strategy for key management and leadership roles and delivering a high quality, cost effective recruitment and selection service that meets customer needs and corporate objectives. To ensure the effective operation of all recruitment & selection processes, proactively identifying areas for service improvement.
Key Tasks
Graduate Recruitment
- Engage with and co-ordinate the sourcing of new trainee talent at both graduate and non-graduate level - primarily for the management, technical and commercial graduate programmes circa 15 a year
- Organizing and leading careers events at universities and colleges of further education
- Coordination of graduate and trainee recruitment through social networks, advertising and links with Colleges and universities
- Manage the application process and run the Graduate & Trainee Assessment Days
- Building the Colas Rail brand for graduate recruitment & development
Graduate Management & Commercial Development
- Inductions ran for the management & commercial graduates
- Support the Commercial & Management rotations schemes - developing rotations, identifying graduates to fill the rotations, monitoring progress during rotations, giving feedback, managing their development etc
- Work with the Graduate Managers to develop the various graduate schemes
- Work with the Skills Development Advisor to roll out the annual graduate training
- Manage the process for permanent roles for graduates finishing the scheme
- Talent development process for graduates
Graduate Development
- Set up and manage the programmes as required with the Professional Bodies eg ICE, ICES, IMechE, IET, RICS and the divisions, maintaining this relationship each year.
- Twice yearly sessions with the Professional body to ensure the correct progress is being made with trainees & graduates
- Brief the programmes and their responsibilities to the management team, running training as required.
- Inductions ran for the new trainees & graduates
- All trainees & grads briefed on the technical elements of their programme, ICE, IMechE, IET, IRSE etc.
- Develop cascade to hold the trainee & graduate information
- Manage the processing of all the qualification applications and also sponsorship agreements tracking it all on cascade
- Manage the training of the technical mentors needed for each scheme, holding at least annual sessions
- Meet with each trainee at least every 3-6 months to ensure they are progressing against their technical competence e.g. ICE core objectives.
- Coordinate the graduate rotations and salary increases linked to all the various schemes
- Coordinate the perm jobs for graduate & trainees
- Work with the Training Officer to develop the technical content of the trainee schemes - NVQs
- General graduate and trainee queries
Person Specification
- Demonstrates the 5 E's to a high standard
- Has experience within the L&D or Recruitment fields or both is desirable
- Demonstrable experience successfully engaging with an internal client base
- Demonstrable experience of complex administration processes
- Thorough knowledge of excel and preferably recruitment databases and HR systems
Qualifications & Experience
- Ideally educated to degree level
- Ideally holds and HR qualification
- 2-5 years' work experience from graduation
