Corporate Head of Health & Safety
Unique opportunity to work on one of the UKs major rail projects.
You will oversee the development, management and communication of corporate health, safety and environment policies and procedures. Ensure that there is a corporate approach to HSE risk management for the business and project, working in conjunction with the professional head of risk and the H&S leads in each of the phases.
Manage the strategic relationships with our regulators,
Deputise for the Safety and Assurance Director when required.
Lead, with the Procurement and Supply Chain Director, a best practice approach to Health and Safety Management with the supply chain, including mandatory H&S requirements and supporting contract monitoring arrangements.
Work with the S&A Director and Executive Team in the definition of a Corporate Health Risk Profile for the various phases of the project that is agreed and accepted by the business and external stakeholders including Government and Regulatory bodies.
Oversee the approach to system safety and compliance with CSM-RA legal requirements, holding the chief engineer to account for safe decision making. Core member of the system review panel (SRP), formally governing safe decision making. Oversight of the ASBO/NOBO contract and commissioner of the Independent Safety Assessment (ISA).
Manage the corporate HSE Team, providing regular line management and direction, setting objectives and managing performance.
Qualifications:
Influencing & Negotiation skills - including the ability to influence executive decision making.
Analysis and challenge - including the ability to analysis data/information (such as from incidents), challenge that data/information to ensure it is providing robust H&S information and intelligence to the business; be able to offer independent challenge and oversight across HS2 in relation to HSE.
Leading and managing people and teams.
Chartered member of IOSH with a NEBOSH diploma or other equivalent qualification.
Hold a relevant qualification and membership in environmental management (AIEMA or equivalent).
Experience in a high hazard or safety critical industry.
Managing external relationships (i.e. with a regulating body or supply chain partners).
