I am currently working for a global market leading Engineering Consultancy who are currently recruiting for an HIA Consultant in their London office. My client offers a multidisciplinary service aimed at developing policy, assessing impact, creative design and implementation, gaining regulatory approvals, reporting publicly, managing risk and controlling costs.

My client is looking for an experienced environmental consultant, with an excellent understanding of the UK planning and consents process and with a strong track record in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and management of infrastructure projects.

The role will include;

• Delivering HIA projects and writing HIA reports / Environmental Statement Health chapters
• Strategic assessment of health effects for Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) of plans and policies
• Preparing health inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports
• Project management activities including programming and budget control
• Interfacing with multi-disciplinary project teams
• Advice on mitigation and enhancement measures to improve health outcomes
• Health literature reviews
• Communicating and liaising with clients
• Assisting with HIA team marketing
• Preparing bids and presentations

Skills/Experience required for the role

• Education to degree level, preferably a Master's degree
• Managing and/or delivering HIAs within the planning, design and construction context
• Healthy urban planning, health public policy
• Environmental impact assessment (EIA)
• Policy assessment (Integrated Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment, Sustainability Appraisal)
• Public and stakeholder engagement within the planning, design and construction context
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable working on multiple tasks and projects at any one time
• Have a proven ability to successfully work as part of a team and direct more junior staff as appropriate
• Experience of working within a commercial environment, including client liaison, programme and time management, quality assurance and within budgets
• Have a strong focus on meeting and exceeding client requirements and a commitment to technical quality and excellence
