Location: Channel Tunnel Site Based
Contract Type: Agency Resource
Team: Construction
Reports to: Head of HSSE
Overview
The HSE Advisor is a site based position and is responsible for advising and supporting management on all safety, health, environment and welfare matters to ensure the company and its contractors comply with statutory requirements and any associated company policies or procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure contractors are complying with ElecLink HSE policy and procedures on the project
- Interface with Project Managers and Principal Contractors on HSE matters
- Undertake weekly site inspections and completion of reports
- Validating contractors HSE and Security compliance in line with contractor's procedures
- Review and report on the compliance with any permits as may be required for ensuring HSSE controls.
- Attend Contractors site HSE meetings
- Monitoring of site security access passes and contractor inductions
- Review contractor's method statements, risk assessments, RAM's
- Actively promote a stop work policy in case of HSSE non-compliances
- Attend the ElecLink Monthly HSSE Management meeting
- Assist or undertake incident investigations as requested by the Head of HSSE
- To portray a professional image at all times throughout the course of your duties
Minimum Standards & Selection Criteria
- Minimum of Certificate level in Health and Safety, i.e. NEBOSH, British Safety Council, NCRQ
- Proven background within site based HSE for rail/power/construction/ associated infrastructure projects
- Current detailed knowledge of HSE legislation and site construction activities
- Demonstrated ability to enforce HSSE procedures and preparedness to stop work as required
- Membership of an appropriate HSE professional association or institute (e.g. International Institute of Risk and Safety Management - IIRSM)
- Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Auditing skills and report development
- Flexible approach and willingness to complete tasks outside of normal role scope, as may be requested
- Be willing to work occasional night or weekends as may be required to support the project
