We are currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to work on a rail project in London. The scope is the upgrade of the depots including heavy Civils, M&E and Track works. Total value of works is circa £50m.
The HSE Manager will be accountable for the following:
- To provide competent advice on HSE matters, including legal compliance and good practice to staff, managers and other stakeholders across TfL interpreting business requirements within existing policy frameworks and making recommendations for remedial and preventative actions.
- Carry out monitoring and assurance activities, including inspections, investigations, surveys and Safety Management System audits making recommendations for remedial and preventative actions and highlight areas of improvement within the overall HSE strategy.
- Take the HSE lead at relevant safety and other stakeholder meetings, providing reports to and from these meetings and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure common understanding and approaches across TfL.
- Deliver the corporate risk management processes to mitigate risks as appropriate.
- To maintain up to date knowledge in the relevant areas of the role including in legislation and industry best practice
The skills, knowledge and experience expected of the HSE Manager wil be as follows:
- Leads HSE Projects, taking full accountability for the work
- Identifies problems, analyses and evaluates their implications and develops and assesses effective, timely and risk based solutions
- A knowledge of both construction and railway related safety, health, and environmental risks, and the means of managing them.
- A good understanding of CDM 2015 and how to apply it in a practical way.
- A minimum qualification of NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
- Knowledge of core MS office IT packages
- Good site experience within a London Underground or railway environment.
- Experience of producing and delivering reports for use
- Experience of producing and delivering site briefings and training material
