Overview:
You will be involved in implementing Health and Safety policies and procedures across all CAF Rolling Stock projects in the UK in line with the parent company's policies. This means ensuring the Company´s operations are fully compliant with all relevant health and safety legislation and CAF's existing policies and procedures.
Main responsibilities:
- Provide pro-active support in the implementation of the Company's Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Train and guide staff on new working methods, procedures and instructions.
- Regularly visit the various depots in the UK to ensure H&S procedures continue to meet current & future operational requirements.
- Manage any practices contrary to those considered to be acceptable.
- Conduct accident investigations and reporting should any accident occur.
- Prepare/assist in Health and Safety audits.
- Liaise with clients directly regarding Health & Safety matters.
- Monitor implementation of health and safety risk controls and report Key Performance Indicators.
- Provide advice on health and safety compliance.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve health and safety performance and support with developing and implementing those opportunities.
- Engage staff of all levels in making health and safety improvements, demonstrating enthusiasm and modelling positive safety behaviours.
- Any other duties designated by the H&S Manager based in the Assembly Hub in Newport.
Job specification:
- Degree qualified, or equivalent level qualification, in Engineering.
- Relevant health and safety qualification, minimum NEBOSH General Certificate preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a similar role in a technical environment, preferably in the Railway, Maritime, Automotive or Aviation industry.
- Previous in-depth experience in successfully implementing Health and Safety policies and processes in a regulated environment.
- High level of inter-personal, communication and negotiation skills to influence positive outcomes, and to ensure understanding across a multi-national and culturally diverse organisation.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise own workload.
- A thorough knowledge of Health and Safety management systems and relevant regulation/laws in the UK.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Able to work flexibly and work across a broad range of activities as the role evolves.
