Racon Resource are working with a leading International manufacturer of rail vehicles to recruit a number of key appointments at their site in Valencia, Spain’s third largest city. They are looking for a Safety Engineer who will be responsible for managing the evaluation processes and risk analysis (necessary for obtaining movement authorisations) of railway vehicles intended to operate in different European countries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Definition and monitoring of the Security plan of the projects. This will take the European Regulation of Common Methods of Security (CSM-REA), the norm IN 50126 as well as the specific legislation and rules of different European countries where the projects are developed
• Preparation and follow-up of the registration of Hazards (Hazard Log) of the project: Identification of threats for the project, assessment of the risks associated with these threats and definition of security requirements designed to mitigate these risks
• Communication and management with groups of engineering design, testing and Quality for the correct implementation of the defined safety requirements in the Hazard Log
• Monitoring and control of the documentation submitted by the Independent Assessment Body of Security (ISA or AsBo) and the Agencies of rail safety (national and European)
• Review of the electric schemes and preparation of the trees of failures (FTA) and/or FMECAs demo associated levels of integrity to the functions of the vehicle with special relevance to safety

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to read and understand functional schematics and FTA/FMECA’s
• 3 Years of experience in management or analysis of security, or in the rail sector or other sectors
• Knowledge of regulations related to the processes of security management, or the specific railway CSM-REA (IN 50126) or other sectors
• Computer skills to include User level Office package, DOORS knowledge and ITEM Toolkit or similar applications

PERSON PROFILE:

• Masters Degree in Engineering in the fields of industrial engineering, telecommunications or aeronautics
• Methodic with good communication skills
• High level of English, spoken and written
• High level of a second spoken or written language will be assessed
