Balfour Beatty has an opportunity for a Controller/Resource Support Coordinator to join our Rail team based in Redhill.
In this varied and interesting role you will provide a control function to the Balfour Beatty Rail Plant team on a 24/7 basis, primarily responsible for ensuring that all incidents, either operational or safety related, are dealt with/escalated as per the relevant procedures. A pivotal part of the business you will provide a booking on and off point for the Operations teams and managers. You will collate all shift reports and distribute to customer and stakeholders as well as planning and managing the day to day operations as per the various work plans.
As a Controller/Resource Support Coordinator you will have the following accountabilities:
- Maintain adequate levels of resource to deliver the directly operated Network Rail fleet;
- Identify replacement resources or an alternative workable plan to ensure successful delivery including management of drivers and operators;
- Responsible for the remote signing on point for drivers and operators and manage in accordance with the driving standards policy in regards of being fit for duty;
- Report any concerns over staff wellbeing and raising any cause for concern for relieving staff of duty. Monitoring staff fatigue levels to ensure that staff do not exceed permitted limits;
- Responsible for real time management of train reporting systems in relation to directly operated Network Rail fleet including the application of VSTP;
- Collate and formulate reports as directed to maintain an overview of directly operated Network Rail fleet activities to enable accurate recording of business critical data;
- During disruptive and unplanned events, identify and formulate a resource plan to minimise delays, shortfalls and cancellations to the customer;
- Manage drivers & operators making arrangements as required in real time such as arranging lodging facilities and transport for staff;
- Partner with NSC High Output OTM Planning team & NSC fleet team to ensure fleet provision is compliant and fit for purpose, resolving any maintenance or technical issues real time. Including monitoring the fuel levels of machines and arranging fuel replenishment;
- Record all accidents and incidents involving directly operated Network Rail fleet in a timely and accurate manner. Reporting any operational incidents involving drivers and operators to the relevant parties arranging for staff drugs and alcohol testing as required in line with the standard policy.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A strong and thorough understanding of the SCO key deliverables / supply chain and responsibilities.
- Experience of working within a logistics or operations environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability in the use of business critical systems (TOPS, NROL, CCF etc.)
- The ability to make objective business decisions in a pressurised real time environment.
