Specialist Engineering Services Ltd (SES) are a leading service provider to the Rail Industry with over 20 years rail engineering experience across the UK. We deliver safe and reliable railway infrastructure solutions for our partners on many diverse and challenging projects. To strengthen our Northern Operations team we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Resources Manager.
The Resources Manager will report to the Operations Manager North and have direct responsibility and be the point of contact for all track workers.
Critical to the role is to be able to understand the requirements of the client, the skills and capability of the staff to fulfil our demands and to succeed on every project.
Each project will require different skill sets and disciplines and the Resources Manager will be responsible for deploying correctly qualified teams including the driver of the company vehicle, along with ensuring all hours, inclusive of travelling time, to ensure compliance with fatigue management and working time regulations
The Resources Manager will monitor the team and the individual’s performance, managing and investigating any accidents, incidents, shortfalls or issues promptly and effectively including taking disciplinary measures where appropriate to prevent reoccurrence. All details must be reported to the Operations Manager. They will be required to liaise with supporting functions to ensure physical resources are available such as vehicle, tools and equipment. Will be responsible for the issuing of PPE in line with industry and company standards. Working closely with the Sentinel coordinator is critical to ensure all staff are compliant and that skills are up to date and certified and staff can be deployed in accordance with our and our client’s requirements.
The selection and induction t of new staff will be within the responsibility of this role and ensure they have the correct training, mentor programme and development plans in place ahead of deploying to any project. Actively recruit new staff to increase the profile and capacity of the company
Liaise closely with the ‘on call’ facility and action any issues raised, the role may include the requirement to undertake on call cover
All duties and tasks conducted in this role will at all times comply with SES policy and procedures and any client specific requirements.
The successful candidate will be PTS trained and have sufficient knowledge and experience, of working in the railway industry . Preferably hold a CSCS Black card and be first aid trained, training is available if required. Key attributes must include excellent communication, planning, organisation and problem solving and they must excel at building relationships and managing expectations, mainly of the client, the staff and other stake holders.
