This is an exciting time to join SYSTRA Ltd and we currently have an opportunity for an experienced Carbon Specialist to join our growing engineering team in Birmingham. This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious individual who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

With a focus on the design of High Speed rail infrastructure the role will also support other Product Lines in the UK and overseas, the post-holder will be part of a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.

• Duties will principally involve project management covering planning, resourcing, leading surveys and producing quality assured project Carbon deliverables; life cycle assessment, carbon footprint, carbon management, monitoring against Carbon reduction targets.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues from different organisations to deliver common documents for the project.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

• Degree in a relevant environmental subject with post-graduate qualifications
• Relevant professional experience in the UK environmental consultancy market, with a strong external-facing, client-orientated approach.
• Previous experience in a Carbon specialist is required, Ideally with experience in the delivery of major infrastructure project.
• Strong knowledge of the planning system and EU and UK legislation of relevance to environmental planning and environmental management.
• Experience undertaking Environmental Impact Assessment, authoring Environmental Statement chapters.
• Experience in Sustainability Appraisal, Carbon Assessment and Natural Capital/Ecosystem Services is advantageous Relevant experience connected with major infrastructure schemes.
• Experience in developing scope of work for environmental studies.
• A working knowledge of Bentley Systems tolls (Projectwise, eB etc.)
