We have an excellent opportunity for a Lead Auditor to join our global organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing external audits and assessments against RISAS, IRIS, ISO. Audits will be conducted at client’s sites in the UK and occasionally overseas. This post will require regular travel throughout the UK with the occasional need for overseas travel and is based at our office in Aston Birmingham.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the correct execution of inspections and audits under a variety of accreditation schemes including IRIS and RISAS, as well as supporting client supplier approval processes.
• Lead or participate in preliminary assessments, assessments, follow-up visits, surveillances and certificate renewals to contract and budget requirements.
• Produce high quality audit reports as determined by each audit.
• Identify shortcomings and / or good working practices that demonstrate where a client is either failing or going beyond the requirements of recognised Rail Industry Standards.
• Communicate and record those failings to the correct governing bodies or the required customer.
• Take new business enquiries, produce quotes, for an Audit to be performed according to the Certification scheme requirements (RISAS or IRIS) or to the customer’s own specification.
• Supporting the preparation of bids to clients for the provision of the above services.
• Ensuring that the business development and administration processes are as required to meet the industry, certification or customer requirements.
YOUR PROFILE
Essential
• Experienced, registered IRCA Lead Auditor within the rolling stock industry, in build, Inspections, test activities.
• An understanding of RISAS and/or IRIS Audits
• Completion of a number of supplier assurance audits
• Technical understanding of rail rolling stock, the supply industry, supplier approvals and maintenance processes
• A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Quality and Environmental systems, including ISO9001:2015.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent report writing skills
• Qualified to Degree or HNC/HND in an engineering discipline
• Full driving licence.
• Experience of rail vehicle manufacturing quality or in-service routine inspection activities
• Proven ability to audit process compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Ability to build relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
• Articulate and accurate verbal and written English language
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Proven expertise working within a rail accreditation environment with relevant qualifications
Desirable
• Commercial view and able to align with, and understand, client’s requirements.
• European Language skills would be an advantage, however are not necessary
• Technical apprenticeship within the rail industry.
• Experience of rail vehicle manufacturing quality or in-service routine inspection activities would be an advantage.
• Practical experience in a rail depot vehicle maintenance or overhaul works would also be an advantage.
