Lead Infrastructure/Civil Engineer in Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom

Role: Lead Infrastructure/Civil Engineer
Location: Hemel Hempstead
Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - £65,000

I am looking to place a Civil Engineering Team Lead within a nationwide property developers Hemel Hempstead office. The firm primarily operates within the private residential development and commercial markets, covering high-rise developments and large-scale property development. The firm has won over 60 awards for its work at the International Property Awards for developments in the UK and Channel Islands.

The firm require an Infrastructure Engineer to work directly under their Technical Director in their Hemel Hempstead office. The role features both technical design duties and site-based activities, ensuring the constructability of designs. Previous experience in residential/commercial developments is desirable, although those with a consultancy background are also highly sought after.

Candidates are expected to have experience in Section 38 and 278 agreements for highways, foul/surface water drainage design/SuDS design, Section 104, 106 and 185 agreements and the ability to submit planning applications for a range of infrastructure projects. Ideally, candidates will be able to conduct designs using PDS, MicroDrainage and potentially AutoTrack. Furthermore, the ability to produce Flood Risk Assessments would be highly desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has experience in the area of private developments, or from someone in a consultancy background looking to change markets and use their design/management skills in a new market. The firm operates using a range of software, with strong technical design skills, team leadership capabilities and client liaison skills more important than any specific software knowledge. This is a team leadership role, and any candidates should have demonstrable experience of managing other engineers/technicians/site-agents as well as the ability to manage a range of stakeholders/clients.

Due to the sign-off duties associated with this role, it is preferable that candidates hold either Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status with the ICE (Institute of Civil Engineers).

In return for the right design, management and liaison skills, the firm can offer a very competitive salary and a range of benefits to suit your lifestyle.

Job Requirements:
  • Incorporated/Chartered Engineer status (ICE)
  • Design skills in PDS, MicroDrainage, AutoTrack
  • Section 278/ <phone number removed> agreements
  • Planning application experience
  • Flood Risk Assessment experience
  • Relevant Education (HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering)
  • Previous Infrastructure experience in residential/commercial markets
  • Previous design consultancy experience
  • Competent Design skills + Design-checking skills
  • Client liaison skills
