Lead Safety Assurance Engineer - Rail Engineering in London, London, South East, Essex, Kent, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, United Kingdom
Safety Assurance Engineering professional with experience of working either with signalling products or, have worked on projects which has a heavy signalling elements to them required for a London based contract opportunity.
As Safety Assurance Engineer is responsible for a linked set of projects / schemes; this linkage may be based around a common technology type or a geographically common area. In addition each will lead on maintaining product approval of a technology, such as Interlocking, Control Centres or ETCS/ERTMS.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering safety assurance to application projects or product introduction
- Manage the Safety Assurance Activities for a series of Line of Route Projects, Technology Introduction or Discipline (such as Signalling (including Design), Interlockings, ETCS Trackside or Train-borne technology, Control Centres)
- Practical Implementation of an Engineering Safety Management Lifecycle for compliance with the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and CENELEC Standards including
- Development of product introduction and project application Safety Plans
- Project hazard analysis / Safety Risk Activities
- oHazard (Log/Record) Management, Mitigation and Closure
- oDevelopment of product introduction and project application safety cases / safety justification reports
- Strategic planning and prioritisation of Safety Assurance activities in order to meet project and product approval deadlines, including the ability to respond effectively to change
- Provision of advice on Safety Assurance to project teams in relation to issues that may prevent a project meeting its safety requirements for commissioning or achieving safety acceptance. Such advice may arise from, attending project meetings, audits, IDR and project stage and commissioning gate reviews
- Engineering safety management liaison at all levels within the company (especially Project Manager, CEM and CREs) and externally with customer, appropriate Assessment Bodies (such as AsBo, DeBo and NoBo), other parts of the company as well as subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparation of Safety Assurance inputs for Tenders and Tender evaluation
- Acting on behalf of the company s UK Regional Centre Safety Manager as instructed for project and product introduction activities
- Supporting the company UK Regional Centre Safety Manager in all areas of integration, development and improvement of Safety Assurance processes, procedures and working practices
- Provide regular KPI updates for On Time Delivery of Safety Assurance documentation and Hazard Log/Record Statistics
To be considered for the role of Lead Safety Assurance Engineer candidates must have practical understanding and application of the Common Safety Method and associated procedures and application. Practical understanding and application of the European committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) Standards including 50126/8/9 and associated procedures and application. Understanding and practical application of conventional UK signalling application projects.
