Procurement Specialist (Sourcing Lead) in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
The Procurement Specialist (Sourcing Lead) is responsible for the effective management and control of the expenditure for designated materials and services, ensuring ADComms realises its aspirations in budgetary savings and product availability.
A key focus is on sourcing quotations and tenders to support the Business Development team in the creation and submission of bids to clients, bringing an in-depth market knowledge and delivering to tight deadlines. The role is based primarily in Scunthorpe at the ADComms office. The business has another site in Coulsdon, Surrey. Some travel to other locations as well as suppliers will be required.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of a comprehensive range of bought out
requirements associated to design and production, bids and proposals, operational and business needs. With an emphasis on the “earliest possible” engagement with all stakeholders so that the company achieves optimum value from its planned expenditure. In addition, produce material forecast usage analyses to be used by the business for short and long term, materials planning and third-party supplier forecasts.
Procurement
- Sourcing of materials and services for planned and unplanned requirements in line with the Procurement
- Plan.
- Consolidate supply base in managed category group(s) with the aim of achieving a fully supported ‘best
- in class’ supply base.
- Manage Suppliers to continually develop, review and implement cost saving and value improvement
- initiatives
- Production of Procurement related KPI’s.
- Management of Suppliers in line with ISO900 BS11000 (Collaborative working) and other relevant
- industry QMS systems as required.
- Identify and monitor procurement across the business to assist the development of a long-term approach
- to procurement in order to deliver savings, efficiency, value for money, quality standards and targets,
- diversity objectives, environmental standards and improved capability.
- Develop, produce and review Category Plans to ensure ADComms market knowledge is current and
- interpret this data to provide continual input for review of the Procurement Strategy, and circulate to the
- wider business
- Management of Supplier contracts and framework agreements.
- Provide relevant Procurement expertise to the Bid Teams, ensuring Procurement are actively involved in
- new projects, direct materials, Capex and indirect materials or services.
- Development and manage Supplier Improvement plans in conjunction with other departments.
- Work with stakeholders across the business to analyse demand and assist in the specification of goods
- and services to be supplied.
- Collaborate with Suppliers to optimise QCD, OTIF and minimise stock days to help with company cash
- flow targets
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- 5+ years procurement experience. MCIPS Chartered Status desirable
- Relevant industry experience
- Experience of Rail, Telecommunications, IT (or other comparable industry) related installation project-based works
- Working knowledge of Engineer, Procure, Construct based project
- Broad base of Procurement experience across other sectors
- Experience in coaching and mentoring desirable.
- Working knowledge of contract law and associated drafting of contract terms and conditions
- Excellent negotiation skills, able to influence at all levels
- Capable of building category plans and implementing higher level procurement strategy
- Clear understanding of the procurement process
- Ability to network and build strong relationships both internally and externally in a multicultural environment (Europe).
- Strong IT skills (SAP, Microsoft Office, other web-based applications)
- Fluent English
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Able to travel per job demands
- Ability to balance and manage supply risk
- Ability to use own initiative to create cost saving ideas through to implementation
