Job Summary
AECOM is currently seeking Rail Lead North, Structures Lead NW. This person will be the focal leader for the Rail business across the North (York,Leeds,Manchester & Altrincham) and will also lead the combined Rail/Bridges and Structures team across the North West.The post holder will be client facing with excellent local relationships leading to opportunities to grow and develop the business across our Northern offices. They will have a strong engineering background and experience in delivering major Rail and Bridge infrastructure and leading multi-disciplinary teams. The post holder will work with their local management team to deliver winning bids and oversee operational measures necessary to create a great local team that work efficiently and secure and deliver successful projects.
Key Skills and Requirements:
People leadership, effective relationships with external Clients, and a strong understanding and experience of rail/bridges engineering challenges and how we can address them are essential requirements for success. The post holder will operate in a collaborative spirit to make best use of available resources and grow and develop the regional capacity and skills as part of the wider Rail Sector team. This will involve:
- Maintaining close contact with key clients locally and actively participate in the winning of work, developing the market to create the necessary pipeline of work to support continuing growth.
- Be the visible lead for staff development, morale and performance management;
- With the local delivery teams, ensure the region is compliant with all necessary processes and procedures and adopting best practice;
- With the local management team, ensure that our available local resources are planned and co-ordinated effectively so that our staff are deployed efficiently;
- Promote and ensure compliance with respect to both worker & workplace and project health & safety through ensuring that regular briefings are conducted with all staff;
- Be the primary point of contact for any regional or local cross Business Line initiatives; and
- Represent the Rail Sector Leadership team locally in communicating and disseminating information across the regional staff.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.
- Significant experience of leading project teams, including major project multidisciplinary teams, developing a range of bridge and other associated structures scheme solutions from initial concept through to detailed design for implementation.
- Experience with bridge and related structural inspection assessment and design schemes.
- Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget.
- Significant experience in road and rail bridge projects.
- Previous exposure with clients of both national and local authorities, together with major contractors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree educated or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- A Chartered Engineer with ICE or IstructE.
