The Opportunity

Following a period of restructuring my client is seeking a specialist Rolling Stock Engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career to manage a team of engineers, working closely with the Engineering Director. This position will give a budding engineer the opportunity to come into a business with an extensive and well populated order book, with projects that exceed values of £10 - £20 million.

Salary: Up to £60,000 P.A dependent on experience, 4% Pension and benefits portal.

Location (s): The position will be based on site in Wolverton, with the occasional need to travel to the company's other depots and customer locations.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Deputy for overall responsibility for all engineering activities within the business
• Interfaces with Project Managers and assists in the generation, production and update of project engineering plans
• Has influences over materials and project engineers
• Acts as an interface with production engineering and design authority on the resolution of technical issues.
• Ensures all engineering output meets the technical and safety requirements of the customer and all relevant standards
• Production of engineering work packages and costs for technical tenders
• Develops training, development and succession plans to support the short, medium and long-term requirements of the engineering functions

The Candidate

The candidate will be an engineer who is experienced in managing and completing rail vehicle engineering projects (especially refurbishment of rail vehicle and components) on time and to budget. They will be looking to take the next step in their career to lead and manage a team of engineers working on some of the rail industries top projects.

Essentials

• History of managing rail vehicle engineering tasks / projects
• Education proven to degree level
• Knowledge of railway standards and approvals
• Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders

Desirable

• Chartered or working towards Chartered status
• Rail commercial / operational acumen
• Membership of Professional Body
