This is a challenging and exciting role where you can really build, develop, define and grow the Materials management and logistics function. You will be responsible for setting and defining the UK Materials Management vision and strategy ensuring the GTS approach is simultaneously cost efficient, innovative, effective and provides competitive advantage.

You will identify and implement appropriate systems and tools for materials management and specifically lead the management and development of ERP from a Procurement and Supply Chain perspective.

Your role

  • Develop and implement the Materials Management Strategy and transformation and Improvement
  • Lead, direct and manage the materials management team inclusive of objective setting and training and development
  • Develop and maintain the materials management processes/procedures and through agreed metrics (cost, quality, delivery) measure the effectiveness of the function at GTS
  • Ensure appropriate tools for materials management are implemented in GTS UK to facilitate the efficiency and effectiveness of the function and improve transparency with internal stakeholders.
  • To take lead responsibility for the management of ERP within the Procurement and Supply Chain function ensuring it is properly managed and improved.
  • To develop and manage forecasting processes (e.g. D&OP) to allow efficient and cost effective supply of materials and equipment whilst minimizing risk.
  • Lead responsibility for technical management of all and any third party warehousing and logistics sub-contractors

Your skills and experience
  • Demonstrable experience of operating as a Materials Manager within a rail/construction/large engineering organization
  • The ability and credibility to transform, lead and create a world class organisaion
  • Effective team development, building, management and leadership skills in a matrix management structure
  • Experience of ERP/MRP systems  in terms of both their implementation and management (extensive experience of SAP and Oracle would be a distinct advantage)
  • Knowledge and experience of managing and developing materials planning, management and warehousing functions a must.
  • Knowledge of Improvement Techniques (e.g. Kaizen, 5S, Lean)
