Logistics Manager in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Our rail client has an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, working on a large portfolio of works covering the North of the country. You will be part of a team helping to deliver faster, longer, more frequent and more reliable services across the north of England, from Newcastle, Hull and York towards Manchester and Liverpool via Leeds.
OVERVIEW -
A range of site-based logistical support is required which includes essential functions such as:
* Waste management
* Traffic management
* Materials handling and delivery
* Train provision
* Security
* Compound/Welfare set up and demobilisation
* Housekeeping
ROLE PROFILE -
Develop a fully resource loaded programme on which the Logistics plan can be defined the two are required to be developed in line with the construction strategy to ensure efficiency.
In addition to the logistics strategy other items to be considered are.
* Identify material volumes, types and timings
* Identify haul Roads in line with construction implementation strategy
* Define handling methods i.e. road/rail
* Identify an experienced team and assign roles/responsibilities
* Identify and implement training
* Identify material/assess management software and processes
* Get suppliers on board with the Logistics strategy and plan
* Define KPI's
* Clarify the mobilization and demobilization plan
* Lessons learnt from other schemes
* Setting up a dedicated control centre to manage in real time
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT -
Engagement with local stakeholders will be delivered in line with the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy. Early engagement with all stakeholders who will be directly or indirectly affected by the construction phase. Lessons learned from other programmes is that early and continued engagement, using different methods to provide information and receive feedback to plans will allow us to develop effective relationships that last throughout the programme. Key stakeholders to be considered are:
* Local Communities
* Land Owners
* Local Councils
* Local Amenity providers
* Environment agency
* Highways agency
* Emergency Services
* Route asset managers
* Maintenance delivery units
* Network Rail Operations
* Station Managers
* ToCs & FoCs
* Neville Hill train Depot
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED -
*HND or foundation degree in either of the following transport or logistics
* SMSTS
* IOSH
*Experience in developing and implementing Traffic management plans
* Experience with interfacing with local councils and authorities
* Experience in leading a large logistics team
* A logical and systematic approach to work
* The ability to solve problems and make decisions, whilst thinking laterally and offer creative solutions
* Commercial awareness
* Numeracy skills
* Excellent degree of IT literacy
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Excellent Leadership skills
*Strong Communication skills
