Influence economic growth across the North of England
This is one of the country’s most interesting and exciting long-term rail projects - and you could play a key role in its delivery.
Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) is a new programme set to transform not only travel between Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, Hull and Newcastle, but the economy of the North of England.
Working with Transport for the North, you will lead the development work to confirm its business case, funding envelope and delivery arrangements. It is a pivotal role, involving extensive commissioning and interface with Network Rail, HS2 Ltd, Transport for the North, and major local authorities. Your remit will also include sponsoring work at the single biggest interface station between the different phases of HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail, at Crewe.
This is a high-profile role, with a budget to match. The Crewe Hub alone is a c.£0.5bn investment, and The National Infrastructure Commission has recommended that £24bn should be made available for the construction of NPR. There are also ambitions for an even more transformational scheme. So join us, and your work will be vital to future economic growth. It offers a significant opportunity to make your own progress too, with the potential for career development in a senior project environment across government.
To succeed you will need highly-developed leadership and project delivery skills, including direction setting, motivation and performance management, ideally gained within a rail setting. You will also need a proven ability to work effectively with senior politicians, build strong networks and influence multiple senior stakeholders across different sectors.
With scope for flexible working, a good work/life balance, a competitive remuneration package and plenty of career development opportunities, this an excellent opportunity to join a team who are truly committed to creative progressive results in a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Closing date: 3rd March 2019.
